Help the Lions

As a charity we help raise awareness, lower stigma and most importantly save lives!

To continue to do so we need your kind donations and fundraising raising! Without you we cannot survive and our work will stop before we reach our vision of a world free from suicide.
The personal and emotional loss of a life to suicide has no price, you cannot put a price on a person. The financial cost of a single suicide on the economy is £1.7million!!
For that we could train over 11000 hair professionals who could potentially reach over 2,000,000 people every week, providing a safe, non clinical, non judgemental space were people feel comfortable to open up or offload.
This is why we have set £1.7million as our next fundraising goal! It’s a big target but just imagine how many more lives we could save, how many friends will continue to be friends and how many families will stay a family.

Our TEDx Talk

After losing a friend to suicide, Tom Chapman decided to do something about the biggest killer of young men in the UK.

In a personal, moving talk he tells us about the international movement he founded building on the unique relationship between barbers and their clients to prevent suicide and save lives.

Tom Chapman is a Torquay-based barber who has made it his mission to propel the stigma of mental ill health among men into the mainstream. In 2015 founded the Lions Barber Collective, an international group of barbers who have undergone training in how to recognise symptoms of mental ill health in clients and signpost them to relevant support services. The group helps to raise awareness of mental illness and aims to prevent suicide by creating training that enables barbers to recognise, talk and listen out for symptoms of depression.
